The Philippines has one of the most polluted water systems in the world, according to a new study.
That’s because the country’s water is extracted from salt-laden rivers and lakes and treated before it’s sent to people’s taps, and that’s a process known as salt mining.
Water companies say it’s cheaper than using traditional methods.
In many cases, the companies extract the salt from the soil, or even plant salt crystals on the surface of the water to create a deposit that can be used to clean the water.
But some critics say that’s not the right way to clean water.
National Geographic spoke with water rights experts to find out how the Philippines’ water is being polluted and what can be done about it.
Why is salt mining so common in the country?
Salt mining is a common practice in some regions of the world.
In some places, like the Philippines, salt mining is so widespread that people don’t realize how bad it is.
In the Philippines it is a significant environmental problem.
What’s happening in the water?
There are two main types of water mining.
The first is in the salt-rich salt deposits in the northern part of the country, where mining is carried out by small-scale companies.
The second type of mining is happening on the coasts of the central and southern parts of the Philippines.
In most cases, mining is done with chemicals, which can damage the soil and lead to groundwater contamination.
What can you do about it?
The Philippines is a developing country, and many of its people are still struggling to recover from a devastating war and the devastating effects of the 2010 Typhoon Haiyan.
Water quality has deteriorated in the past few years, and a growing number of people are using bottled water as a source of drinking water.
One thing the government can do is to address this problem.
If the government does not act now, this problem could get worse.
